1. What to wear?
Wear loose clothing and no underwear, you don't
want marks of any kind on the body.
2. Learn to pose in different
ways:
Spend some time practicing in front of the mirror.
Know what poses flatter your physique. Be
mindful of poses that cause folds in your flesh
such as when bending over at the waist.
3. Tanning:
It's great if a model can arrive with a nice
all-over tan. However, don't try to rush it.
Models that aren't used to tanning
SHOULD NOT tan the day before and then
show up at the shoot with burned areas that
normally do not see the light of day.
4. Grooming:
We often will ask models to NOT shave or heavily trim their pubic
hair. For male physique modeling, hair is
extremely desired under the arms, on the legs
and especially in the pubic region. There is
nothing sexier than a happy trail leading down
from the navel. If you need to shave your chest,
that is fine but make sure to do this well in
advance and not cause any red marks or visible
skin irritation.
5. Facial Hair:
Some male models look great with beards, mustache or with a little
stubble (the sexy 5 o'clock shadow). If you're one of them, then don't
shave a day or two before the shoot. However,
bring your shaving equipment so a clean-shaven
look can also be captured if necessary.
6. Before the shoot:
A quick warm up exercise such as push ups can make muscles stand out and send
blood pumping throughout the body generating a
healthy look.
7. Personal Wardrobe:
If you enjoy a particular sport and have an
outfit for it such as a jersey, trunks, uniform,
etc., bring it along. Be sure to also bring some
jeans, shorts, muscle shirts or anything that you
think looks good on you. We do have some articles of clothing, underwear and jockstraps available for
use as well.
8. Video Profile:
Video recordings include behind-the-scenes
footage with still photos and interviews
conducted with the model. Models are shot in casual clothes, indoors and outdoors, swimsuits and underwear as well as artistic nudes.
9. Final preparation:
Drink plenty of water the night before and
morning of the shoot to keep your skin looking
fresh. Rest well and get a good nights sleep. Many of our shoots are done in the early morning hours.
Most importantly, bring your confidence. It's
much easier for a model and photographer to get
great results when the model brings his "A-Game."
10. Model Release:
All models are required to sign a model release and provide government issued identification such as a driver's license or passport.
